In a star-studded Beverly Hills party Saturday, Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo, two of the plaintiffs in the landmark case that struck down Proposition 8's ban on same-sex marriage in California, were able to celebrate their marriage with all the trappings of a well-planned wedding day. The ceremony came exactly one year after their actual marriage.
Today's wedding celebration, and the sequence of events that led to it, represent just such
a triumph for the difference that individuals can make with a little help from their friends -
And what a set of friends you have. Thank you for reminding us what love between two
people can achieve.
I don't think either of us thought we'd be standing over a pool, surrounded by 250 people,
saying 'I love you' and 'I do' to each other.
